Finished toilet with a wall-hung pan, concrete-look wall tiles, a lit niche and a small basin

Toilet

The smallest room, the most looked at

Wall-hung toilet with a concealed cistern, tiling right up, a small basin and neat silicone work. Often done in a couple of days.

Short job, little disruption

A toilet is a small room. We are in and out quickly and the house stays liveable.

Tiling in our own hands

In a space that small you see every joint. That is why we set the tiles ourselves, not a third party.

We come and measure

We measure up at your home and tell you straight away what is behind that wall.

Why it stands out

Everyone who visits ends up in there

Your toilet is the one room in the house where every visitor stands alone for a minute with nothing to do but look around. A crooked joint, an old cistern that keeps running or a tile that stops halfway up the wall: everybody notices that.

It is also the cheapest room to take on, precisely because it is small. For a lot of people this is the first bit of renovating they start with, and often the bit they are happiest with.

  • A wall-hung toilet with a concealed cistern frees up the floor and is easier to clean.
  • Tiles up to the ceiling, or half height with plaster above. We do both.
  • A lit niche or a made-to-measure basin fits in a narrow room too.
  • An extract vent that works again saves you mould in the corners.

How it goes

From an old cubicle to a finished toilet

Small room, fixed order. We work it through in one run and do not leave it standing halfway.

01 — Out

Old toilet and old tiles out

The pan, the cistern and the tiling out, down to the bare wall. We cover the hallway and take the rubble away ourselves. If there is still an old floor-standing toilet with an exposed cistern, the whole corner opens up and we see straight away what state the pipework is in.

02 — Building in

Cistern built in and walls flat

The concealed cistern goes into a frame against the wall and gets boxed in, with an opening for the flush plate. We run the water and waste to the new position and make the walls flat, because every tile shows that up later.

03 — Finishing

Tiles, pan, basin and silicone

Wall and floor tiled, then the pan and the flush plate on, the small basin with its tap next to it and the silicone last. We also fit the roll holder and the mirror if you have them, and hand it over clean.

More about the tiling

Often comes with it

While you are at it

The toilet is often the start. The hallway, the bathroom or the meter cupboard are usually right next to it.

How long can we not use the toilet?

A couple of days, depending on what has to come out and how the tiling runs. If you only have one toilet in the house, say so when we measure up. We then plan it as tightly back to back as we can and tell you exactly which days it is out of action.

Can a floor-standing toilet become a wall-hung one?

Usually yes. A frame goes against the wall to carry the weight, the waste is rerouted and the whole lot gets boxed in. You lose a few centimetres of depth and you get a clear floor in return. We check when we measure up whether the wall allows it.

Do the tiles have to go up to the ceiling?

That is a choice, not a requirement. Fully tiled is the easiest to keep clean. Half tiled with plaster or paint above is quieter and saves on material. We do both and show you what works out better in your room.

Do you also just replace the pan?

Yes. Only a new pan, only a leaking cistern or only a new flush plate is fine too. You do not have to order a renovation along with it.

What does a toilet renovation cost?

That depends on what has to come out, on the size of the room and on the tile you pick. That is why there is no amount on this page. We come and look and you get a price on paper afterwards, with the material listed separately.

Toilet due?

One line is enough. We call you back and come and measure. A request commits you to nothing.
